Dr. Vivek U. Rao, M.D.

Although Dr. Rao is one of the newest physicians to set up practice in the Permian Basin, he is quite familiar with the region. Born in New York, he moved with his family to Texas as a child, living initially in Big Spring and then relocating in 1981 to Odessa, where he attended grades one through 12. After graduating from Permian High in 1993, Dr. Rao completed his undergraduate studies at Rice University in Houston, followed by medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. His postgraduate training in internal medicine was completed at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. After that, he decided to go to the Northeast for a change of scenery; he completed his fellowship in Allergy & Immunology at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where he obtained extensive training in the diagnosis and management of both adult and pediatric patients.
